Google Business Profile Suspended? What to Do Next

Local SEO & Google Maps 8 min read

If your Google Business Profile is suspended, do not create a replacement listing or repeatedly change details. First compare the profile with Google's eligibility and representation rules, collect documents that prove the real business, correct only genuine errors, then use Google's official appeal process.

What suspension means

A suspended profile may disappear from Search and Maps or become unavailable to manage. Google does not always identify one exact cause, so treat the process as an eligibility and evidence review rather than guessing at a secret ranking penalty.

Check the details most likely to conflict

  • Business name includes only the real-world name, not added keywords.
  • The address is a genuine staffed location if displayed publicly.
  • Service-area businesses hide an address customers cannot visit.
  • Primary category accurately describes the core business.
  • Phone, website and hours match the business.
  • There is only one eligible profile for the business and location.

Prepare evidence before appealing

Useful evidence can include registration documents, utility bills, business signage, invoices and photographs showing the location or service vehicles. The name and address should match the profile. Do not manufacture evidence or alter the business identity simply to fit a listing.

Use the official appeal route once

Submit through Google's Business Profile appeals tool and explain the correction plainly. Repeated appeals with changing stories can make the case harder to assess. If Google asks for evidence, provide it within the stated window.

What not to do

Do not open a duplicate profile, stuff the name with locations, use a virtual office that customers cannot visit, or pay someone who guarantees reinstatement. Those actions can create a second policy problem rather than solve the first.

Protect the rest of your visibility

While the appeal is reviewed, keep the website accurate and accessible. Your organic pages can still explain services and locations. Once restored, work through our profile setup guide before trying to improve Maps rankings.
