Websites and pricing
How much does a small business website cost?
Our fully managed plan starts at £80 a month with £0 upfront — that covers the build, hosting, SSL, updates and ongoing edits. If you'd rather own it outright, a one-off hand-coded build starts from £1,200. Larger sites, shops and migrations are quoted on request.
How long does it take to build my website?
Most small business sites go live in two to three weeks from the point we have your content. Simple one-page sites can be quicker; larger multi-page or e-commerce builds take longer. You'll get a clear timeline before we start.
Do you build WordPress websites too?
Yes. Our default is a hand-coded static site because it's faster and more secure, but if you need WordPress for a specific reason we build that properly too — no bloated page-builder themes.
What's included in the monthly plan?
Design and build, UK-edge hosting, domain guidance, SSL, daily backups, security monitoring, performance tuning, and ongoing content edits. There's no separate maintenance bill.
Will my website show up on Google?
Every site is built with clean semantic markup, fast Core Web Vitals, structured data and local SEO foundations. We also set up and optimise your Google Business Profile so you can appear in local map results.
Do you only work with businesses in Cambridgeshire?
We're based in St Ives and work with businesses across Cambridgeshire — Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon, St Neots, Peterborough and beyond — but everything we do works remotely, so we happily take on clients anywhere in the UK.
What happens if I want to cancel?
The managed website plan has a 12-month minimum. After that, give us a month's notice and we'll stop billing. If you'd like to keep the site, we'll quote a fair buy-out so you can take it with you.
Web design
How long does a new website take?
Most 5-page brochure sites take 2-4 weeks from sign-off to launch, depending on how quickly we get content from you.
Do I own the website?
Yes. With the lump-sum option you own the code outright. With the monthly plan we host and maintain it as long as you're a customer.
Can you redesign my existing WordPress site?
Absolutely. We rebuild WordPress, Wix and Squarespace sites as fast, secure, hand-coded statics — usually with a 5-10× speed improvement. If you'd rather stay on WordPress, we rebuild on WordPress properly too.
Will my site rank on Google?
We can't guarantee rankings (no honest agency can), but we build sites that meet every technical SEO requirement Google publishes. Local search is where we see the fastest results.
What's included in the monthly plan?
Design and development, plus fully managed hosting — we look after your domain, DNS, SSL, business email mailbox, platform updates and backups, and we're your direct point of contact if anything ever goes wrong. Google Analytics and Business Profile are set up for you, and small content edits are included. From £80/mo, £0 upfront, 12-month minimum.
Do you build WordPress sites?
Yes. Hand-coded is our default because it's faster and easier to rank, but when WordPress is the right fit — self-editing, WooCommerce, or an existing WP site — we build it properly. See our WordPress service page for the full breakdown.
Local SEO
How long does local SEO take to work?
Properly executed local SEO typically delivers meaningful ranking improvements in 3-6 months, with dominant local positioning in 12 months. Anyone promising 'page one in 30 days' is either lying or about to do something Google penalises.
Is local SEO really included in the £80/mo plan?
Yes — Google Business Profile setup, schema markup, on-page SEO, analytics setup, and local content strategy are all included in every managed website plan as standard.
Will it work for my industry?
Local SEO is most powerful for service-area businesses (trades, healthcare, professional services) and place-based businesses (retail, hospitality, beauty). If you serve customers in your local area, it will work.
What's the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Local SEO targets searches with local intent — 'plumber near me', 'web designer Cambridge' — and focuses on local pack rankings, Google Business Profile and proximity-based signals. It's typically much faster to win than national SEO.
Do I need a new website for SEO to work?
Not necessarily. We can improve an existing website where the structure, content and technical setup give us a sound base. If the site itself is holding the work back, we'll explain the specific issues and options before recommending a rebuild.
Managed hosting
What's actually included in managed hosting?
Everything technical about your small business website is handled for you: the domain, DNS, SSL, your business email mailbox, platform updates, backups and support. If something ever goes wrong you message us — you don't chase a hosting company. It's a single fully managed service from £80/mo, not a bundle of things you still have to run yourself.
Do I have to manage the domain, DNS or SSL myself?
No — that's the whole point. We handle the domain registration or transfer, point the DNS at your site, and keep the SSL certificate valid and renewed. You never need to log into a registrar, edit a DNS record, or think about certificates.
What happens if my site goes down?
We don't promise your site will never have an issue — anyone claiming that isn't being straight with you. What we do promise is that if something goes wrong, we're usually already looking at it before you notice, and you have one person to contact rather than a hosting helpdesk.
Can you undo a change if I don't like it?
Yes. We can restore your site to any point within roughly the last two weeks. Just message us with what happened and when you'd like it rolled back to, and we'll take care of it.
Is business email really included?
Yes. We set up and manage a proper mailbox at your own domain (like you@yourbusiness.co.uk), get it working on your phone and laptop, and support you with it ongoing. No more sending quotes from a Gmail address.
What does 'unlimited edits' actually cover?
Small content changes — updating text, swapping a photo, adding a new service, tweaking prices, adding an opening-hours notice — are all included, and we normally turn those around within a couple of working days. Larger pieces of work like a brand new page, a full redesign or a new integration are still available; we'll just scope those separately so you know what's involved before we start.
Can I host somewhere else if I want to?
Yes. If you choose the lump-sum option you can take the code and host it wherever you like. Most clients prefer to leave it with us because it means one bill, one point of contact, and nothing technical to think about.
Paid advertising
Is ad spend included in the monthly fee?
No — the monthly fee is for management only. Ad spend is paid directly to Google or Meta from your own card, so you keep full control and visibility. For local businesses we usually recommend starting somewhere between £300 and £2,000/month of ad spend, depending on industry and goals.
How quickly will I see results?
Google Search Ads can generate enquiries within days because they catch people already searching. Meta Ads usually take 2-4 weeks of learning before they stabilise. We're honest about that timeline — anyone promising instant ROI in week one is guessing.
Do I need a new website to run ads?
Not always — but slow, cluttered websites quietly kill ad performance. If your existing site is fine, we'll run ads to it. If it's holding conversions back, we'll either build a dedicated landing page or talk about rebuilding the site itself.
Are there long contracts?
No long contracts. After the initial setup, management is rolling month-to-month — cancel any time with 30 days' notice. We'd rather earn the relationship every month than lock you in.
What kind of businesses do you run ads for?
Mostly local service businesses: electricians, plumbers, roofers, builders, dentists, clinics, gyms, salons and other small SMEs across Cambridgeshire. Anywhere a phone call, form fill or booking is the goal.
Can I combine this with a website build?
Yes — and it usually works best that way. A fast, conversion-focused site + targeted paid ads is the most reliable lead-generation combo there is. Ask about combined packages on your strategy call.
